Dr. Rabin Nickens (also known as "Dr. Rabin") has a 25-year record of success driving achievement in teaching, learning, and education leadership. As an award-winning education scholar, literacy expert, and instructional leader for the largest school system in the United States (serving over 1,800 schools and 42 districts across New York City), she has helped hundreds of principals, APs, district leaders, and coaches improve student reading proficiency and staff effectiveness.
Dr. Rabin has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as one of the nation's top educators for raising achievement of both students and teachers. The author of numerous texts, her work has also garnered praise from leaders of the International Literacy Association and NYU Metro Center, an award for outstanding research from the American Educational Research Association (AERA), and she has been cited in U.S. and internationally in publications such as Journal of School Leadership, Journal of Education Human Resources, and International Journal of Diversity in Education.
Dr. Rabin holds a Doctorate of Education from Columbia University, an M.S.Ed. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Bank Street College; has specialized training in Orton-Gillingham multisensory literacy instruction; and is both a certified School District Leader and School Building Leader.
