As a parent or caregiver, you understand the importance of reading, but may be uncertain about how to support your child at home.

This is because reading is complex, and whether your child seems to be doing "okay" or struggles with reading, it can be difficult finding clear guidance on which strategies are right for them.

This is where "Helping Your Child Read and Achieve" can make a difference.

This short course will help you understand how reading works and give you practical strategies for supporting your child's learning at home with confidence – even if you don't have a background in education or literacy instruction.

Plus, you'll get a special bonus “Home Planning Workshop” and Q&A session for those who register by July 7.

FAQs

(frequently asked questions)

What if I can't attend one of the live sessions?

No problem! Every session will be recorded and uploaded within 24 hours, so you can watch the replay at a time that works for you. You'll also get access to all the downloadable tools and any follow-up notes shared with the group.

How do I access the course once I sign up?

After you register, you'll receive an email with a single Zoom link to access all course sessions.

All sessions will take place on Zoom. If you are unfamiliar with Zoom (a communication app that allows people to connect through video, audio, chat and screen sharing) or need a refresher on how to use it, click HERE or HERE for brief video tutorials.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

Because this is a live, limited-seat course with access to real-time instruction and downloadable tools, refunds aren’t available after the course begins.

If something comes up before July 1, just reach out and Dr. Rabin will do her best to help.

Throughout the course, feedback is welcome and encouraged. This live format allows room to adjust and respond to the needs of the group.

How much time will the course take each week?

Each live session is about 75 minutes.

Outside of the sessions, you'll get tools and activities to try at home, but nothing overwhelming or time-consuming. The goal is to keep things simple, doable, and effective.

The 3 core sessions (plus bonus Q&A and workshop) total about 5 hours of live online instructional time for the entire course.

Do I need to be on camera or use a computer?

Nope, but it’s recommended! If you can, join from a laptop or tablet in a quiet space so you can fully see the visuals and participate in the chat. This isn't just a series of webinars! In addition to presentation, Dr. Rabin usually asks participants to engage in quick practice activities during the live sessions.

That said, we know parents are busy. So if you're joining from your phone or need to stay off camera, you’re still very welcome!

What if I don't feel I have strong reading skills myself?

You’re not alone and you’re still the right person to support your child. This course is designed for everyday families, not literacy experts. Everything is explained clearly, with no jargon or judgment, and you’ll receive simple, practical tools you can use right away, no matter your background.

Your willingness to learn is what matters most.

What if my child is homeschooled or learning remotely?

You're still in the right place! This course is designed for all parents, whether your child attends school in person, learns remotely, or is homeschooled.

The tools and strategies you’ll learn are flexible and can be used in any setting, no matter what your child's learning environment looks like.
